KaTech Ingredient Solutions GmbH, part of Ingredion Incorporated, is an international food technology company specializing in the development of customised stabilisation systems for the food industry such as dairy and dairy-alternatives, savoury, meat, meat alternative and baked goods. The headquarters is in Germany with subsidiaries in England and Poland.
The Development Technologist is a hands-on formulating expert, who works closely with our go-to-market and procurement teams to deliver customer requirements. The individual will also build capability, expertise, and knowledge within the Dairy and Dairy Alternative application.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Technical Interface: Responsible for developing and executing Ingredient solutions. Independent planning and execution of tests in our technical center. Preparation and implementation of large-scale tests as well as error and cause analysis at customers’ sites. Conducts experiments and measurements. Captures key new insights that can help us maximise ingredient performance and technological expertise. Spends significant hands-on time in the lab.
  • Subject Matter Expert: Develops, drives, and leverages own expertise and hands-on skills as needed to successfully formulate within the Dairy / Dairy Alternative Application. Constant knowledge building on technology and all raw materials including functionalities and areas of application. Transfers new knowledge insights efficiently to the wider team. Deliver training measures for internal employees and external customers in cooperation with sales and marketing teams.
  • Project Management: Executes innovation assignments/projects. Delivers to agreed timelines. Prepares structured documentation of rest results and projects.
  • Scouting, networking, and competitor benchmarking: Selectively explores new opportunity spaces and supports Competitor Benchmarking. Develops, maintains, and leverages an internal and external network with key innovation partners to identify and assess new relevant process technologies.
  • Innovation – New and further development of process technologies. Participation in the development of innovative products based on current market and customer trends
Qualified candidates will have:
Mandatory requirements:
  • Degree, or equivalent in Food Science or other science related discipline
  • Professional experience as a food technologist/scientist in formulating Ingredient solutions
  • Experience of working work databases and systems
  • Excellent understanding of food science, industrial food processes, and interactions between different food ingredients or ingredient systems
  • Proven hands-on skills to run trials in the pilot plant as well as characterizing samples in the lab
  • Proven skills to analyse and report test-results from trials to extract and effectively share new insights with the wider technical team.
Desirable requirements:
  • Relevant experience in Dairy Application
